Lexington Book Festival announces renowned lineup of authors for third annual event
Prepare for an unforgettable literary adventure at the third annual Lexington Book Festival on Saturday, March 22, 2025. This annual event offers incredible opportunities for book lovers and attendees of all ages. This year, the festival will feature a nationally renowned lineup of 14 authors who inspire readers from various backgrounds.
The festival will take place at the Arts Davidson County building, located at 202 N. Main Street, NC, in the heart of downtown Lexington. Festivities will begin at 10 am and continue until 5 pm. All events are free and open to the public, ensuring a fun-filled day for families.
There’s a buzz of excitement among both the authors and the attendees. Lexington Book Festival describes the event as “…a gathering of readers and writers. While children's authors will offer storytimes where they will read their books, the panels are meant to be conversations, not readings. Discussions will explore the process of writing the books and what inspired the authors to make the choices they did in telling their stories.”
The 2025 lineup includes:
Writing for Children: Ashley Belote, Constance Lombardo, and Valerie Bolling
NC Battle of the Books Author Gita Varadarajan
New Books by Micki Bare and Melanie Sue Bowles
Self Publishing Q & A with Taylor Wilson-West and Gail Williamson
Writing Characters with Disabilities with Kelley Shin and Shannon Hitchcock
Bringing Ancient History to Life: Valerie Nieman and Al Sirois
The American Past in Contemporary Fiction: Jeffrey Blount and Rebecca Bruff
Writer's Workshop on Publishing and Poetry with Gail Williamson and Valerie Nieman
“This year’s authors span various genres and age groups, and we’ve intentionally grouped them into panels that we believe will create some very compelling and inspiring conversations,” says Daniel Everhart, chair of the Lexington Book Festival board of directors. “We’ve also added some sessions for aspiring writers,” says Everhart.
Festivalgoers are encouraged to come prepared with questions for the authors. “This is your chance to ask authors face to face about characters, plots, that ending you loved or hated, and more,” says Everhart. “Even if you haven't read the books, come get a sneak peek during the panels. You might just discover a new favorite! We attempt to keep the panels mostly spoiler-free.”
Visitors can purchase books on-site from Pig City Books, the festival's official local booksellers. Vendors, including talented local artisans and self-published authors, will set up booths, creating a vibrant marketplace for festival-goers to explore.
