The Life Center of Davidson County, a non-profit organization, has been awarded a national grant from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) to provide respite care services for local families affected by dementia.
People 60 and older, as well as adults with disabilities, are eligible to sign up for assistance from May 1–Oct. 31 at local aging agencies across the state. Since 1986, the relief program has purchased fans for older adults and adults with disabilities, providing them with a more comfortable living environment and reducing heat-related illnesses.
Applications for placing seniors in need on the Giving Tree in Denton are still being accepted. The deadline to request placement is November 27th.
United Way offers aid to people in need and strives towards community prosperity, offering financial, educational and health-related support. It collaborates with and supports Pastor’s Pantry, helping Davidson County as a whole, working toward its goal of building up equitable and strong communities and helping those in need.

Hospice of Davidson County will host its 14th annual golf tournament on Thursday, April 13 at Sapona Country Club in Lexington. The four-person Captain’s Choice event encourages participants to organize their own team, but can also pair individual golfers.
