Lexington man arrested and charged with death of dogs in addition to animal cruelty
On October 10, 2024 at 4:19 p.m. The Lexington Police Department (LPD) received a call at 308 Williamson Street in reference to a deceased dog in the backyard of the residence. When officers arrived on the scene the deceased dog was located inside of a small, enclosed fence.
There was a total of 5 dogs inside of the enclosed fence, including another deceased dog also located inside of the enclosure. All of the dogs were seized and taken to the Davidson County Animal Shelter. A third which was taken from the resident later died while at the animal shelter.
Jamal Moore, 40 was arrested on October 18th and charged with:
3 counts of felony killing an animal by starvation
2 counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty
5 counts of animal abandonment.
LPD officers executed a search warrant at 308 Williamson Street on October 19th at 3:13 a.m. Upon search, an additional dog was located inside of the residence. This dog was seized under the search warrant and was taken to the Davidson County Animal Shelter.
Moore was held in the Davidson County Jail under no bond and is scheduled to appear in Lexington District Court on November 14, 2024.
