Lexington Civitan Club plans interest meetings to reestablish community service group
A new effort is underway to revamp the Civitan Club in Lexington, with two upcoming interest meetings set to introduce the club’s mission and goals to the community. These meetings will be held on April 7 at 12:00 pm. and April 28 at 5:30 pm both at the Barbeque Center.
The initiative seeks to bring together former members of the previous Lexington Civitan Club and Central Carolina Civitan Club, as well as new individuals interested in community service. The Civitan Club is an international organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, while also addressing other community needs through service projects and fundraising initiatives.
Laura Baker from the Lexington Chamber of Commerce will be present at the meetings to discuss how the Chamber can assist in the club’s revitalization efforts. Attendees will learn more about the organization, its potential impact on the community, and how they can get involved.
One of the unique aspects of Civitan Clubs is their flexibility—each club determines its own service projects and fundraising efforts to meet local needs. Membership is open to anyone 18 years or older who has a passion for service and community involvement.
Former members of the Lexington and Central Carolina Civitan Clubs, as well as newcomers, are encouraged to attend and contribute to the club’s rebirth. Those interested in learning more can contact the following individuals for additional details:
