Lexington designated as a Accredited Main Street America program

The North Carolina Main Street & Rural Planning Center at the North Carolina Department of Commerce has announced that 46 North Carolina communities have been designated a 2022 Accredited Main Street America™ program. This accreditation status is Main Street America’s top-tier recognition and signifies a demonstrated commitment to comprehensive commercial district revitalization and a proven track record of successfully developing an asset based economic development strategy, and implementation through the Main Street Four-Point Approach™.

Thomasville Memorial Day Parade, ceremonies set for this weekend

Organizers invite the public to come out to Downtown Thomasville on Monday, May 30th at 9:00am the our annual Memorial Day Parade. The parade will start at The Big Chair and go down Salem Street towards Memorial Park Dr. This event is hosted by the NC Memorial Day Parade Committee. The Grand Marshal for this year is Lt. Governor Mark Robinson.

North Carolina approved to extend Child Care P-EBT Food Assistance Benefits, First issuance scheduled for next week

Next week, North Carolina’s youngest children who are eligible for food assistance benefits will begin to receive extra monthly benefits tied to the COVID-19 pandemic for the 2021-2022 school year. North Carolina is among the first states in the nation to receive approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a 2021-2022 Child Care Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer food assistance program.
