United Way of Davidson County hosts 2nd Annual Oyster Roast

It’s time for the United Way of Davidson County’s 2nd Annual Oyster Roast. This year’s event will be on Saturday, November 9th at the Goose &The Monkey Brewhouse in Lexington beginning at 6:00 p.m.

This is a fun community event that brings our community together for great food, entertainment and fellowship with all proceeds benefiting the United Way’s Community Investment Fund which prioritizes funding between three focus areas: health, education and financial stability. The United Way of Davidson County supports programs for 25 nonprofit organizations making a positive impact in Davidson County, so grab your tickets and join the fun.

The United Way is partnering with a company located in Washington, N.C. called Washington Crab. They were featured last year in Our State magazine and have been processing and providing quality seafood since 1972. Washington Crab specializes in catered oyster roasts and they provide a one of a kind experience that you are sure to enjoy.

Tickets are $50 each and include all you can eat oysters, steamed shrimp, bbq sliders, hushpuppies, stewed potatoes, cole slaw, tea and water. The event will also feature the local band Trouvaille, who call themselves a variety cover band, featuring covers from Garth Brooks, Journey, Jimmy Buffett, ZZ Top and a little of everything in between.

Spirits will be available for purchase from Goose & The Monkey. “Last year’s event exceeded our expectations, and we are looking forward to this event again this year. We want to offer an event that would reach out to community members that are not familiar with the work we do and offer a fun community experience,” stated April Rich, United Way Campaign Director.
