Teens arrested for series of car break-ins in Lexington

On November 14, 2024, at 3:39 a.m. officers with the Lexington Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Williams Street in reference to a breaking and entering that had just occurred. When officers arrived in the area, they located two males who matched the description of the suspects.

Avauntae Newell, 18 and Brishawn Brown, 19 fled from officers on foot and a short foot pursuit ensued.

Newell and Brown were both arrested and have been charged with seven counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, felony financial card theft, first degree burglary and resisting a public officer.

Newell is under a $65,000.00 secured bond for all current charges except burglary, he is being held without bond on the burglary charge.

Brown is under a $45,000.00 secured bond for all current charges except burglary and is too being held without bond on the burglary charge.
