Holly Hill Memorial Park to host Hurricane Helene candlelight prayer service
Holly Hill Memorial Park is hosting a candlelight prayer service on October 10th at 6 pm for those affected by Hurricane Helene and all first responders. Hurricane Helene, a Category 4 storm, made landfall on September 26th in Florida’s Big Bend, causing a 500-mile path of destruction with deadly force, catastrophic flooding, damaging winds, and power outages. The death toll from Hurricane Helene has surpassed 200 people.
In response, Cemetery Director Eric Anderson and General Manager Anderson of Holly Hill Memorial Park have decided to host a prayer vigil. Pastor Michael Bowers will lead the service, and candles will be provided at Holly Hill Memorial Park located on 401 W. Holly Hill Rd, Thomasville, NC. Recovery efforts are ongoing more than a week after the storm hit, with victims in six states. Nearly half of the victims were in North Carolina, with additional casualties in Georgia and South Carolina.
The organizers have released a statement, "We humbly ask our community to join us at the Holly Hill Singing Tower for a Candlelight Prayer Service. We want to stand in solidarity with our neighbors in Western NC and pray for the victims, their families, first responders, linemen, those conducting rescues, and all who are suffering from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
