Events to fill your social calendar

Spring is here, so that means that it is time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery and weather. There are numerous local events planned that will provide fun for the entire family.

March 22, 2024 -  6:00 p.m. Student Art Exhibit at 202 North Main Street in Uptown Lexington. Talented local students show their artistic talents at this anticipated exhibit. 

-Shiitake Mushroom Log Inoculation Workshop SandyCreek Farm, 3160 South NC Highway 150, Lexington. Instructions and hands-on experience going through the entire process of mushroom log inoculation and you get to take home an inoculated log to grow your own Shiitake mushrooms! -1st Annual Community Day Reeds Volunteer Fire Department 186 Highway 150 in Lexington. Bring the family out for our 1st Annual Community Day and meet some of your local volunteer firefighters! We will be serving hamburgers and hotdogs with a side of chips and some soft drinks or water. We will have our fire trucks on display, bounce houses, a 50/50 raffle and more entertainment.

March 24 - 12:15 p.m. Palm Sunday at the Old Courthouse in Uptown Lexington. Everyone is welcome to join.

March 25 - Books & Brews at Goose and the Monkey 602 S Main St, Lexington. Join us at Goose and the Monkey to discuss "All the Siners Bleed" by S.A. Cosby. Pick up your copy at Lexington Public Library today!

March 28 - Unveiling Perspectives Exhibition- Join Arts United from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Arts | Theatre 202 located at 202 North Main Street in Uptown Lexington for the Unveiling Perspectives Exhibition. Dive into a collection of diverse perspectives by our talented local artists. Explore a rich tapestry of artistic expression, each piece telling a unique story from the imaginative minds of our local creators. Also enjoy complimentary refreshments as you wander  through the gallery.

March 30 - Building Onto Basics Journaling Workshop. Building Onto Basics Journaling Workshop: Pockets/Tags/Flips/Cards/Envelopes/Tucks/Tabs, from 11: 00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Pig City Books in Uptown Lexington. During this 3-hour workshop you will create items to add to your personal  journals. These creations will not only add functional elements, but decorative ones also.The cost of the workshop will include all materials and instructions required to participate. As in the past, you are welcome to bring any items with you to have assistance in learning how to incorporate them into your journal.

*Skill level: Beginner

*Ages: 8+

*Available Spots: 8

*Prepayment is required due to no-shows in the past. The cost of the workshop is $25 if you have a journal you’d like to build into and $35 if you’d like to have a blank journal provided to build into.

March 31 - Happy Easter

April 01 - Anything For Our Youth Group, Inc. Community Garden Event. Please call to register and for more information about this great community event.

April 06 - Go Fly a Kite Day- Join the fun at Finch Park on April 6 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.for free family fun. Bring your own kite, or be one of the first 60 people and receive a free kite to decorate and fly. After you decorate your kite, take to the skies and see how high, or low, you can get yours to fly. Enjoy the rest of the park while you are there, make sure to check out the pond, playgrounds, and trails. This event will be held on the soccer field at Finch Park.

April 7 - (Almost a) Total Eclipse of the Park. Experience the solar eclipse at Finch Park with complimentary viewing glasses available for the first 100 people. There will be games and eclipse crafts available to attendees and the playground is always a great place for the kids while waiting. This event will be from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and the eclipse will happen from 1:45 p.m. through 4:15 p.m. Peak viewing time will be around 3:15 p.m. For more information about the Solar Eclipse,

The glasses are all ISO certified. Please remember that looking at the sun without proper protective equipment is dangerous, even during the eclipse. That is why we have the glasses and the pinhole projectors, to make sure everyone can experience this safely.
