Celebrate National Native American Month

Celebrate National Native American Month

The FDA Office of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE) invites you to join in the celebration of National Native American Heritage Month this November. This month we honor the traditions, languages and histories of American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

As part of this year’s observance, at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13th, Dr. Cheryl Anne Boyce, Associate Commissioner for Minority Health and Director of the FDA Office of Minority Health and Health Equity will interview Dr. Casey Dorr, an Investigator in the Nephrology Department at Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute in Minneapolis as part of OMHHE’s Health Equity Lecture Series. Dr. Dorr, a first generation descendent of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, will discuss his research in pharmacogenomics and his ongoing work to improve representation among researchers, including Native American researchers and other underrepresented populations.

OMHHE also encourages you to visit the OMHHE Enhance Equity Research Hub, a data repository that provides information about OMHHE-funded research projects. These projects are a vital part of achieving the OMHHE mission to promote and protect the health of diverse populations through research and communication of science that addresses health disparities.

Please visit our website to find our free health education resources, which are easy to share, download, and print.
